likes • award shows, appreciation, window shopping, magazines, the performing arts, a night out at a broadway show, stars, trying to figure things out before they happen, word searches, mailing letters over email, unwrapping gifts, light colours, a relaxed sense of style, teeth, others homes, organised mess, coffee on the go, feeling valued, being surprised, being challenged, yellow taxis, watching an action movie after a chick flick, equality, paying her own way on a date, a man in a suit, answering phones, her ‘phone voice’, making lists, leaving notes for herself, her job, honesty, the city, equality, taking photos, snacking, friendly rivalry, confidence, sitting in silence, nigh time, her bed, her pillows, feeling free
dislikes • naivety, obnoxiousness, when her pay check doesn’t stretch too far, perverts, flashy wealth, feeling inferior, presumptuousness, dieting, measly portions, childish men, awkwardness, tasteless comedy, bad oral hygiene, being forced into things, feeling restricted, her brother, pepper, having an apartment on the ground floor, sales, american idol, when people are handed success on a platter, her dreams, fact she’s chosen to be realistic about her career options, doing anything ‘physical’ on a leather sofa, being treated as fragile, incompetency, loneliness, overusing hair product
habits/quirks • before sleeping has to check all four corners of a room for fear of spiders lurking, will never grab something loaded with calories instantly but instead chew her lip and look at it for a while before the eventual plunge, walks up and down escalators rather than waiting for them, will write reminders on scrap pieces of paper and sometimes her hand, when bored at work will wraps a strand of her hair around a pencil, has to drink her coffee whilst it’s scolding
fears • most of her fears come with being unable to provide for herself, losing her apartment and having to move back home, that every day in which she doesn’t try and chase her acting ambitions is a mistake, being unable to escape from a person or situation where she’s overpowered and dictated too
dreams • to be able to be in the position where she could be reckless and take a gamble by entering the entertainment business, performing on stage in a broadway production, getting a nod for some type of award for her acting ability, maybe a golden globe, more realistically to maybe one day enrol herself into a university course, something that can get her into a more long lasting and stable career, since she can’t expect to be a secretary all her life, even if the pay is quite good
secrets • first tried to move to new york when she was eighteen but what she thought was an audition was just an excuse for a lecherous man to try a dupe her into having sex with him for a part that turned out to be very mediocre at best. if that’s not enough of a secret, want to know something more? dear giselle actually considered it. she was that determined to break into the business
overall • kind, listener, problem solver, competitive, feisty, independent, loyal, private, realistic, matter of fact
mother • april olive fabray; 44; teacher
father • darius hansen fabray; 46; doctor
siblings • ethan sylvester fabray; 25; unknown

overall • It began as a simple story, a well mannered doctor in the state of Washington found love with a primary school teacher and together they married, with a son and two years a later a daughter to join the fold. But before Giselle could ever be focused on, even though she was the youngest and the only girl, there was always someone there to take her place. Even as a youngster Ethan was boisterous. Not that he ever bullied or anything likes that, but he was never satisfied with not being in the spotlight and so growing up Giselle would always find herself overruled. Of course she didn’t mind much, it wasn’t as though she played Princesses and Pop Stars and needed to give performances. Little Giselle had only one dream growing up. To be a dentist. Odd, maybe, but imagine the delight of her parents, a young girl with realistic ambitions. Oh the blessing. Unfortunately this meant Giselle was shunned, all because she gave fillings to dolls instead of giving them makeovers, and she’d never been well liked or even popular. A shy young thing, throughout school she hid behind her brother.
Then came High School and as she prepared to fade into obscurity once more, instead she was thirst into the spotlight. All through association of course. Ethan was extremely good looking, a top sports player and charming; Giselle only had a free pass to instant popularity through him. Admittedly she found it nice, and there’s no doubt as her confidence grew she could have easily done without the Fabray name. Pretty without make up and generally well rounded, who could say a bad word? And then everything changed. Because the girl with realistic ambitions saw stars before her eyes. Inspired by watching rehearsals of her schools amateur dramatics society, Giselle joined, proving to be naturally in tune in singing and not bad at all at acting. It soon became a passion for her. Not for Ethan however, who was dismayed that his sister, a Fabray, would ever ruined his reputation by being into drama. He made it quite clear, forceful in speaking, that only he stopped her from being picked on herself by her peers and that the best option would be for her to quit all together. Giselle was adamant in her refusal however no matter how intimidating Ethan tried to be. Acting was more than a hobby, it was a love. Still, her brother was stubborn and no less than three times did Giselle come into school to find he’d linked her to one of his teammates. None of the relationships lasted more than three days. When Ethan graduated it was as though she’d been set loose in a field and could finally be, well, herself totally.
At eighteen years old, graduated and fresh to the world, Giselle rumbled her entire family by professing her wishes to go to New York and audition for both television and Broadway roles. Naturally it concerned her parents, who subtly suggested other options, but allowed their daughter the opportunity for one audition. She travelled to New York alone, lines learned and ready to read the part for a small recurring role on a soap opera and was genuinely enthralled by the possibility of getting through. She was to read to a middle aged man, who asked her after she’d read to take off her clothes under the guise the character would be seen in a bikini being she surfed in her spare time. Giselle thought nothing of it, until he brought her down to the leather sofa with a stroke of her thigh, promising her a better shot if she’d give him as the casting director more special benefits. At this point any young girl should have slapped him, but Giselle debated the offer. Her thirst for acting so strong that she truly considered falling victim to the whispered ‘casting couch’. However she could not degrade herself, leaving the audition and returning home without the job and disheartened at just how far she’d been willing to go for the sakes of being a star.
To the delight of those around her Giselle began to distance herself from auditions, first tearing herself away from New York and then from more localised offerings until it seemed as though acting was something she just didn’t want to do anymore. Behind close doors she still wanted too, but the ambition wasn’t realistic in the slightest and at twenty Giselle believed, especially given her not exactly rich background, that to find her own footing meant a reliable job. Eventually she moved back to New York, enticed by the prospect of climbing the professional ladder, yet found that many places were unenthusiastic about hiring her. An acquaintance of her suggested Secretary work, which though Giselle thought would pay low eventually enquired since her rent needed to be paid. It’s what led to her employment at Rockefeller Industries and that pays for her stay in New York. If you need something done, filing or appointments recalled, Giselle Fabray is well known to exceed in her work ethic, though everyone knows that one day she wants to fly the nest. As much as she enjoys her job, where’s the ambition and success in sitting behind a desk to see out the years?
