I WANNA LET GO AND KNOWTHAT I'LL BE ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT the hands on the clock at the bar read eleven. myles let out a small noise, it was still early. he had plenty of time. and, looking down at his glass, plenty more to drink. raising it to his lips, he let the liquid send its warmth down the familiar trail in his throat. as he set the now empty glass down, a small smile barely appeared on myles' lips. alcohol and him had always been good friends. great friends even. old pals. it was always there for him, when his parents died, when he was shipped off to los angeles, when everything seemed to be falling apart. there had been a falling out in their relationship, back in los angeles, when myles had grown too fond of it's effects. but he was past that now. scotland had taught him how to drink properly, and now he knew how to enjoy the effects without screwing up his life. turns out he didn't need alcohol to screw up his life. he could do that one all by himself. and he had, once again. and everything felt like it was falling apart, once more. which was why it seemed as though the scotch in front of him was his only friend that night.
not that he hadn't enjoyed himself. moments before he had been out on the dance floor of the club, having dozens of girls paw all over him. which of course, was nothing terrible. quite the opposite. and while he enjoyed it all, it seemed to be like rubbing salt in an open wound. he had lost two women he cared about, milan and silver, in the span of two weeks. and why? because they chose others instead of him. well, at least, milan did. myles didn't know about silver. but he did know that milan had chosen someone over him. despite the fact that she had asked him out on a date. he shook his head a bit at this, as if that would make him forget it. and now, no matter how much he wanted to be angry with milan, he couldn't be. father had just died, and myles knew all too well what that was like. what she needed was a friend, and so myles was trying his best to be that for her, no matter how much it wrenched his heart when he saw her. this alone made him call over the bartender for a refill.
as his glass disappeared to be refilled, myles turned on his barstool out to face the rest of the club. all around him were sweaty, excited and often overly-hormonal people. but they were all pretty happy. and that was usually him. he had always been the life of the party, the one to go out and find fun. the one that seemed to bring a good time with him no matter where he went. tonight he for once felt like he was on the outside looking in. that was such a weird thought for him that it alerted him to the fact that he was clearly in some kind of a funk. any of his friends, had they seen him there, would have asked him what was the matter. and the truth was, he wasn't exactly sure. well, he sort of knew. he wanted to have fun, he really did. he just felt so weighed down. maybe he just needed someone. yeah, that was it. he just needed someone to remind him of what he was missing. as far as fun went. he knew what he was missing in other respects. he contemplated this as he ran a hand through his sandy blonde hair, his other hand bringing the glass once more to his lips, tipping it back and letting it pour through his lips once more. damn, he seriously needed to get out of this mood.

tonight was one of the rare nights when she did not have work, especially on a saturday night. this was great, for now she did not have to serve her customers. tonight she would have the chance to be on the other side of the bar, tonight she would have the opportunity to go out and dance with the crowd of people who seemed as though they were having the time of their lives. and, to be honest, raine was stoked for this. she would be sure to make this night last, to make it great. hell, if that meant that she had to dance with some stranger, then so be it. if it meant she had to get wasted beyond repair it, she wasn't going to hesitate. by now it was obvious that raine darrison lived on the party scene.
the brunette glanced once more at her reflection in the slightly dirty mirror, satisfied at what she saw. raine ran her hands over her outfit once - a simple spaghetti strap and some shorts. she wasn't one to get all dressed up for a night like this. hell, it was just clubbing. still, she always took the opportunity to show off some skin - it just seemed natural to her to have her legs show. true, it was chilly in manhattan, especially at night, but inside the club would be warm. in fact, she was inside the club at the very moment - rather, in the bathroom. it was nice to finally party and be on the other side of the bar. it was different, but nice.
one more glance at the mirror and then she was out the door, stepping into the crowd of dancing strangers. given, she did recognize some of her customers but that was mainly it. raine wordlessly sauntered over to the bar, her ocean-blue eyes sweeping around till they landed on a familiar head of blonde hair. myles? raine advanced, her eyes focused on the boy until she was sure it was the infamous myles hampton. automatically, a smile graced her lips. great, somebody she knew was here. raine strolled towards him and plopped down on the seat next to him, the smile still in tact. "hey there, handsome." she teased, her gaze dancing away from his face to the drink he had. well that was no surprise. of course he'd be drinking. and, hey, speaking of drinking - raine motioned towards the bartender and ordered herself a glass of smirnoff. once she had her drink, raine shifted her attention back to myles, noting that he looked well.. not as happy as he should be. "aw, cheer up, sunshine." honestly, he didn't even need to explain what was the matter. raine already had the basics. still, if he wanted to talk to her about it - she'd definitely listen. he was her friend, and she'd always be there to listen to his problems. it's just what friends did for each other. her gaze flitted over to the mass of dancers once again, longing to join them. hell, would myles want to dance with her? only one way to find out, she thought. the brunette turned to face myles again, plastering a grin onto her face. "feel like dancing, mr hampton?"
notes, i'm so ashamed of this. this is so bad. xD outfit, click!words, rofl, not much at all. music, missing you - black eyed peas puppets, myles & raine [/blockquote]

I WANNA LET GO AND KNOWTHAT I'LL BE ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT maybe he should have never left scotland. yeah, that probably would have been a better plan. then he could have stayed with his girlfriend of two years. he could have kept all the friends he had made there. scotland was great, it was familiar. it was safe. myles knew practically everyone he needed to know there and yet didn't feel as though it was too small of a place. sure it was cold and the winters were harsh, but that wasn't too bad. you just had to learn how to deal with it. myles knew all the good clubs, his favorite bars, the best places to eat. everything. it was so familiar, so easy for him there. and yet he had chosen to give that all up. to throw it away, to leave the one place he had ever really felt like he belonged, and come here. to new york city, to the place that held so many painful memories. where he could just be walking along the street and see a bagel shop his parents used to get him breakfast from. he'd see their smiling, happy faces and feel his spirits lifted for a moment. then he would remember what else had happened in this very same city, and that familiar pain would strike his heart. and then he'd ask himself the same question he had been asking ever since he moved here: why the hell am i here?
a sweet voice interrupted his moody thoughts and the words instantly brought a slight grin to his lips as he tipped his head up to see who it was, although he was already pretty sure he knew. his ocean blue eyes seemed to light up a bit when raine filled his view. what guy wouldn't have that reaction? raine was gorgeous. and had a killer body too, it was a lethal combination. so far though, nothing had happened between them, and myles found himself seeing her as more of a friend than a bed buddy. although, that's not to say he wouldn't mind the latter. he watched her eyes move from him to the drink in front of him. he realized that he hadn't really seen raine much before when he wasn't drinking. the girl was going to think he was an alcoholic. which probably wasn't too far off, seeing as how he had been at one point. but that part of his life was over. or it was supposed to be. nah, it wasn't going to happen again. he wasn't addicted to the stuff, he just needed it to help him get through some rough times.
laughing lightly myles replied,
and hello to you too, gorgeous. although i barely recognized you on this side of the bar.
a broad grin spread over his lips as he spoke. so far his accent was manageable and understandable. if he had too much of the liquid that rested in his glass, then his words would become almost incomprehensible and even though he would be speaking english, it would sound like some other language completely. his eyes flicked around and noticed that several guys in the surrounding area were either gazing longingly at raine or shooting him looks. as if he had just ruined their plans for the night. that made him just grin even more, those guys thought they had a chance with her. he shifted in his stool a little so that he was facing her more while she ordered herself a drink. myles wasn't sure how much exactly she knew about what was going on in his life. some people knew most of it, but he was pretty sure no one knew the full extent of it. what she said next told him she knew at least some of what was going on. he drew a small smile onto his lips and gave a small nod, saying,
yeah, i 'spose i should. i've got you for company right, what could be better?
and it was true, already just having someone around him was cheering him up a lot more. especially since it was raine, she always just seemed pretty happy. not like the super bubbly that sometimes got on your nerves happy, but just genuinely happy. that, and sitting next to pretty girls had always made him smile. why wouldn't it? he picked up his glass and swallowed the rest of the drink, wondering if raine would start talking to him about his life. or if they would just sit there drinking. he wouldn't really mind either. but what she proposed sounded like an even better idea. his eyes shone with mischief and he stood up and took her delicate hand in his, and grinning at her said,
only if you think you can keep up.
and with that, he led the gorgeous brunette out onto the tightly packed dance floor. ----------------------------------------- status! finished tagged! open raine lyrics! car crash, matt nathanson music! it hasn't been long enough, eric hutchinson notes! took me a while, sorry

i feel so untouched, I FEEL SO UNTOUCHED RIGHT NOW, I NEED YOU SO MUCH , SOMEHOW I CAN'T FORGET YOU, I'VE GONE CRAZY FROM THE MOMENT I MET YOU. GIVE ME, GIVE ME ALL OF YOU ! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ raine, needless to say, was a total party girl. if someone even mentioned a party, she'd be there. her life centered around parties, work, boys and well, her friends. it was one of her addictions - she didn't know why she enjoyed parties so much. perhaps it was the simple thrill from it, the energy that radiated off from every swaying body, or maybe it was the music that had her body naturally moving to the beat. whatever the reason was, raine was sure as hell she wasn't going to stay at home tonight with nothing to do but drool over ryan gosling in the notebook. besides, every second she grew older and today could be her last day - she had to live her life to the fullest, as the saying often went. today was her one day off work - finally - so raine figured she needed a little time to just relax her shoulders and have fun, simple as that.
many knew her as raine, the bartender - the one who always served the free drinks. that had to be one of her false traits. she was too damn kind, especially to her friends. sure, at first she would seem like an ordinary stuck-up bitch but raine was sincerely a sweetheart - even though she could be a mega bitch time to time. of course in order for her to get all 'don't make me angry or i'll seriously rip you apart limb from limb', one had to harm her friends or family. raine was very protective, and if anybody dared to think about hurting one of her loved ones - god have mercy on their souls, cause raine would hunt them down and leave a dent in their face with her fist. no questions asked. as long as you didn't fuck with her loved ones, then raine was all good.
the brunette was one of those people that always seemed to be happy and full of life, no matter how bad the day was starting off to be, no matter what drama was going down - she'd always be the one to offer a smile or crack a few jokes. there was no real explanation for it, so the best she could come up with was that it was simply the way she was. of course, everyone had their ups and downs, their bad and good days. who didn't? then again, she always tried to push away her problems vigorously and let loose around her friends. at first, she'd be cautious but once you got to know the bartender - she could prove to be extremely fun, especially when she was drunk. the girl was far from perfect, however. like most people, she made her mistakes and she never took pride in them. she had been called many names before, most of them being 'slut' or 'whore'. hey, the girl liked to have fun, even if that meant seducing some guy into bed - which she discovered was extremely easy. boys these days were ridiculously hormonal, not like she was complaining. besides, those days were over now that she had james as her boyfriend. to her, james wasn't one of those guys she considered to be one of her fuck buddies. no, he was something much more. he wasn't like all the other guys who only wanted to get in her pants. james actually seemed to care.
myles' familiar voice brought her back to earth. her azure eyes focused on his face, and a new smile kissed her mouth. she had to admit - he was pretty damn cute, and she would have absolutely no problem kissing him. besides, his scottish accent only heightened his appeal. he knew how to pull off an american accent, but even she could recognize the hint of his natural accent in the crevices of the words that poured from his mouth. her grin only stretched wider as she spoke, "today's my day off. poor you, i could've been serving you free drinks."
which was pathetically true. if she didn't have the day off today, she'd be on the other side of the bar, no doubt serving myles free drinks - even though it would risk her job. she watched wordlessly as myles' eyes flitted around the club. raine followed his gaze and chuckled to herself as she acknowledged the group of guys, eying she and myles together. okay, she wasn't going to deny it - she certainly enjoyed the fact that many men found her attractive. it made her feel even more beautiful; it made her feel good about herself. perhaps that was one of the reasons she was always so happy - because she knew that boys lusted after her, that she was wanted. the smile remained intact as another stream of words dropped frm his lips. raine took a sip from her drink, her azure eyes concentrated on the blonde before before her. a soft laugh fell from her mouth as he finished speaking. raine set down her glass and, with a smirk she delivered in his direction, responded: "good answer. oh, you suppose? there's no way in hell that i'm going to let you sit around and mope. not a chance. i'mma force you to be happy tonight, hell, i'm going to get you as happy as a little five year old girl who just won the barbie dollhouse of her dreams." sure, raine didn't know the complete story of myles hampton but she had the basics and, honestly, that was all she needed. there was simply no way raine was going to let her friend sit at the bar the whole night and drink away his stress. the brunette beamed at myles as he stood up and took her hand in his, an obvious answer to her previous question. raine finished what was left of her drink and allowed him to lead her out onto the dance floor, a smirk plastered to her face. only if she could keep up? hah, hilarious. raine turned to face myles again and snaked her arms around his neck, a mischievous grin finding her lips. "oh, i know i can." she didn't care how they danced - slow dance or the dance that everybody seemed to be doing around them even though it hardly counted as a dance. "can you keep up?" the notes, :] the lyrics, untouched by the veronicas the wordcount, bah idc, probably 800 something the status, finished the puppets, myles & raine [/blockquote][/blockquote]

I WANNA LET GO AND KNOWTHAT I'LL BE ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT a laugh escaped myles' lips when she remarked that she could have been serving him free drinks. now wouldn't that be nice? except, serving myles free drinks, while very kind in theory, was a bad idea in actuality. first because since the alcohol wasn't going on his tab, he was more likely to order more extravagant drinks, and plenty of them, so he inevitably ended up getting completely hammered. the last time he had been offered free drinks, by raine no less, he had woken up the next morning in an apartment he didn't recognize, next to not one but two girls he didn't recognize really either. even then he hadn't been completely gone, and with the help of the two girls, who ended up being both rather kind and twins, myles was able to piece together the previous night. trust me, worse things had happened to myles on "free drinks" nights. and the second problem with offering myles free drinks was that most people didn't realize how sincerely he'd take them up on the offer. they'd expect him to put away several beers a few other drinks at most. but myles? he had an iron liver. or something like that. anyways, whatever it was, it meant that myles could put away drinks like no other. essentially, offering him free drinks was the equivalent of offering shaggy and scooby an all you can eat buffet. in short, not a good idea. he gave a small shake of his head to raine and said,
the last time you offered me free drinks, i ended up getting ditched at the bar so you and tristan could go fool around. or play dress up.
a smile was spread out across his lips to let her know that he was just teasing her and that he really wasn't upset about how that night had turned out. still smiling, he continued in his slightly gruff scottish accent,
but you deserve a night off babe. i feel like you're always working.
that was true too, the beautiful brunette often times was working. maybe that was the only time myles talked to her, but still, it sounded like a lot of work to myles. granted, he probably wasn't the best standard to go by, his work was of a more free-form nature. and since photography was something he loved, he hardly ever felt like he was working. unless it was one of those fashion shoots where the models moaned and groaned about practically everything. it was on those days when myles realized that dating a model was probably not as good as it sounded. plus, a lot of them were so skinny, it was just painful to look at. myles preferred girls that were, not necessarily thicker, but just healthier. and ones that had some curves. like raine. or milan. damn, that girl just wouldn't stay out of his mind. and he honestly didn't need to be thinking about her any more. that would only make the glass in front of him look even more appealing.
myles opened his mouth to counter that he wasn't moping, but that just made him realize that that was exactly what he was doing: moping. the sad expression this realization caused him didn't last much longer however, because what raine said was just plain amusing, it instantly brought that familiar smile back onto his lips. he laughed again, this time a full, proper laugh and told her,
oy, that sounds good to me.
he grinned at her all the while he grabbed her hand and led her out to the dance floor. there were dozens upon dozens of people packed on the dance floor of the club, and it looked as though things were just beginning to heat up now. myles had done a lot of clubbing in his younger days, back in los angeles when he had acquired a knack for getting into trouble. edinburgh had been a great place for pubs and the like, but not really for night clubs. i know, real shocker there. now that he was back in new york city, he was fully taking advantage of the night club scene. he didn't go out too often, but enough to pepper some fun into his life. the new york party scene was different than edinburgh, but more similar to los angeles. in a way that kind of scared him because it made him worry that he would fall into the same self-destructive patterns here as he had there. so far he was holding up okay though and he planned to keep it that way. so long as he didn't get his heart stomped on too much more.
her mischievous grin matched the mischievous glint to his won bright blue eyes as he led her out to the dance floor, her words almost getting snatched away by the blaring music. but he caught them and with a shrug, turned to face her a bit and told her with a wry grin,
honestly? i don't know. but i'm sure as hell gonna try.
he maneuvered them into a place on the dance floor, even though space was pretty limited. myles wasn't sure how great of a dancer he was, and like raine had said, probably couldn't keep up with her. but myles was always up for trying something and rarely turned any opportunities down. so that's why he twirled her slightly with a cheesy dramatic flourish before moving so her body was in front of his, her back to his front. he stepped forward, somewhat into her, so their bodies connected in the way that everyone else dancing seemed to be doing. he placed his hands at her hips, not in an inappropriate way, and let his body follow raine's and the beat of the music. a smile was worn about his handsome features as he leaned his head down a little so it was by her ear and said,
we won't makes james all jealous, will we? ----------------------------------------- status! finished tagged! open raine lyrics! car crash, matt nathanson music! bungle in the jungle , jethro tall notes! my stupid internet is being all funky 'cause the snow storm. buuuut, i had muse!

it was a pretty well known fact that raine emilia darrison was a bit of a flirt. okay, so maybe ' a bit ' was an understatement. it didn't even matter if she had a boyfriend who really seemed to care about her - it was just.. yknow, in her nature to flirt with guys, especially cute guys which very much included myles. myles was handsome, there was no point in denying it. hell, she could go up to him and tell him that she was attracted to him and she probably wouldn't hesitate. then again, raine was just .. really honest. back to the story at hand, the girl was pretty damn reckless and she never thought about the consequences. that had to be one of her downfalls. she was too reckless. for christs sake, she even slept with a married man without a second thought. then again, it had been and open marriage so all was fair, right? right. she hadn't really saw any problem in it at the moment but then again she wouldn't have turned down the boy. hell no. handsome, charming guys were her weakness. well.. any guy was her weakness. she wasn't one of those girls who would throw herself at a guy on the first date. no, she was all for the game of cat and mouse. or, you could also say that the brunette was a bit of a tease.
the corners of her lips curved into a wicked smile as he shook his head to her previous remark. a short laugh emitted from her as his words embedded into her brain. the girl glanced up at myles and lifted her shoulders into a nonchalant shrug, the smile still remaining. "you could've joined. the offer was always on the table, y'know." she joked. that night had.. well, it hadn't gone as she had planned. she had intended for her and tristan to sleep together - again - but they had ended up watching the notebook together, cuddling on her couch. and, as predicted, she had cried. the notebook could always get a few glistening tears from her. her eyes flashed back to him as he began to speak again, his accent slipping through. raine raised the rim of her glass to her lips and took a dainty sip, allowing the alcohol to leave a fiery trail down her throat. "thanks, and yeah. i mean, i need the money - s'not like i have a closet full of money just waiting for me at home.
" she said carefully, eyes dancing away from his face for a moment. raine was not rich, nor did she have a fancy house. she didn't have much designer clothes, designer shoes or anything designer for that matter. her parents didn't have a huge income, either, so she mostly lived off the money she made day in and day out - that was usually why she worked overtime. and, though not a soul knew this, she had actually gotten so desperate for money that she had slept with her boss in order to convince him. he raised her check by two dollars only. the stupid little twat. blue orbs remained on the crowded dance floor until a familiar laugh had them averting to the face of myles hampton. it was almost like his laugh was contagious, for she found herself grinning and laughing along with him. it was a good thing that he was getting over his previous mood. moping was not good for the soul. it got you no where, she had learned that the hard way. raine, believe it or not, had had her fair share of bad past relationships, one in particular being the long-term relationship she had with jamie. obviously, now that she was with james ashford, her relationship with jamie did not end on a bright note. in fact, raine distinctly recalled that she had thrown a spatula at him in her own anger. of course, nobody had to know that little tidbit. she was so deeply rooted into her own thoughts that she didn't catch what he said before he pulled her out onto the dance floor. either way, she found herself laughing at his next statement. it was amazing how friends had that power to just.. make you forget everything troubling, how they could unloosen the tightened coils in your stomach and muscles. " oh, i have faith in you." she said, loudly, so that she could be heard over the music. she had no clue what the name of the song was but it had everyone around her going. honestly, the girl was having a great time, especially that she had myles to accompany her. if he hadn't been here, she probably would've met some other guys who would've tried to get in her pants or something. myles, on the other hand - he was more like a friend than another one of the hormonal boys she slept with. or used to sleep with, that is. she trusted him. a delighted laugh erupted from her mouth as he twirled her, exaggeration put forth into the move. a broad smile tugged at her lips as she felt him come up from behind her and as his hands found her hipbones. raine leaned back into him, her hips swaying to the beat of the music. a new song was starting to come on, something about mr.flintstone and making a bed rock. nice. raine tipped back her head as his voice snaked over to her ears, her eyes automatically lighting up with what seemed to be amusement. " nah, it's just dancing. as long as you don't try to plant one on me then i'm sure your face will be safe from his deadly punch." raine teased, simply poking fun at him. " do you think the twins will get jealous?" she asked, returning the question. a part of her had almost mentioned milan but she had stopped herself, afraid that it'd put a damper on myle's seemingly good mood. right now, he seemed.. good, unless that was just one huge facade; a masquerade. raine, continuing to sway her hips to the beat of the music, slid her hands down the side of her body until they reached myle's hands which were located on her hips. they weren't dancing.. yknow, well inappropriately - he wasn't trying to settle her into all these dirty poses like some of the other dancers were. they were just.. dancing, simple as that. just two friends having a good time, and last time she checked there was nothing wrong with that. notes, my muse was beginning to run out. sorry, m'dear. bahaha that 'bed rock' song was stuck in my head all day. hence the lyrics to the banner, even though it wasn't mrs. flintstone. words, idk music, bed rock - young money status, finished puppets, raine & myles [/blockquote][/blockquote]

I WANNA LET GO AND KNOWTHAT I'LL BE ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT friends like raine made him think that moving here wasn't a bad decision. that yes, it was tough at times, but worth it. for one thing, it took him like half to time to fly out to see charlie. that was always a good thing. and really, facing new york city was something he had always known he had to do, he just hadn't had the balls to do it before now. he did miss his friends back in edinburgh, fiona, his ex and best girl friend, and eli, his best mate for years. oh the trouble the two of them had gotten into. the countless times they'd chased after girls, gotten drunk or just goofed off. those two were the kind of friends that no matter what happened, things were always still okay. and also the kind of friends where you'd want to hang out with them just to be around them, not necessarily because you wanted to do something, but just because you wanted company. and because you felt better around them. it had taken a while to develop that kind of friendship, although with myles and eli it had almost been instantaneous. but here, well, myles had been worrying about finding friends that close. not about finding friends in the first place, myles had never had a difficult time finding friends. he just worried about finding ones as close as the ones he was leaving behind. so far he was thinking he might have found just that, in people like bee and raine.
in truth, myles had noticed that raine was a bit of flirt. he didn't have a problem with it, what straight guy would? she was gorgeous, there was no doubting that. but now she was with james. and anyways, myles felt that their friendship was just that, a friendship. he wouldn't want to make a mess of all that for a potential hook-up. not worth it. no matter how good she looked right now and how much he was hurting. ----------------------------------------- status!
